08-18-08 THE 2008 TOPLESS WAS WITHIN REACH BUT NOT TO BE GOTTEN
Scott set fast time and won the second heat but with the draw for the feature starting spot, Scott drew a number six and started in the third row. Still not a deterent for Scott, he felt he was capable of the win but a mechanical causing a major vibration to the car took him out of the event when he opted to pit rather than take a chance on the vibration causing damage to the race car.
07-26-08 CEDAR LAKE SPEEDWAY VICTORY BELONGS TO SCOTT BLOOMQUISTIt was a challenge for Scott to make it not only into Victory Lane but even to make the feature at all after having a flat in qualifying and starting in the rear of the heat race. With a second place finish in the heat, Scott joined the star studded field in the 5th row for the start of the National 100 at Cedar Lake Speedway. With numerous driver lead changes, Scott was the one in the lead on the 100th lap to take home the $50,000 with Shannon Babb a very close second. Brian Birkhofer with two flat tires during the feature finished an astounding third place.
The next event will be the North-South at Florence Speedway. We received a bulletin for fans coming to the North-South to take alternate routes due to the 127 yard sale the same weekend as the race event. Please find the recommended alternate routes below. PLEASE SEE ALTERNATE ROUTE DIRECTIONS.For those using online map sites, the track's physical address is 12234 US 42, Walton, KY 41094.
- From the North(I-75 and I-71):
- Take exit 180(Florence/Union/US 42) off I-75/71. Go Right(West) on US 42. Follow US 42 9 miles to the track on the left.(Note: this is the normal route and will take you through the bulk of the 127 yard sale.)
ALTERNATE ROUTE: Take exit 175(Richwood/KY 338). Go Right on KY 338. Follow KY 338 approx 5 miles to US 42. Go Left on US 42. Follow US 42 .5 - 1 mile to the track on the left.
- Take exit 180(Florence/Union/US 42) off I-75/71. Go Right(West) on US 42. Follow US 42 9 miles to the track on the left.(Note: this is the normal route and will take you through the bulk of the 127 yard sale.)
- From the South(I-75):
- Take exit 175(Richwood/KY 338). Go Left on KY 338. Follow KY 338 approx 5 miles to US 42. Go Left on US 42. Follow US 42 approx .5 - 1 mile to the track on the left.
- ALTERNATE ROUTE: Take exit 171(Walton). Go Left off the exit. At the second light(KY 1292/Beaver Road) go Right. Follow KY 1292/Beaver Road approx 5 miles to US 42. Go Left on US 42. Follow US 42 .3 of a mile to the track on the Left.(Note: KY 1292 is a tight two-lane road and is not recommended for high profile vehicles.)
- From the South(I-71):
- Follow I-71 through the I-75 merge. Take I-75 exit 175(Richwood/KY 338). Go Left on KY 338. Follow KY 338 approx 5 miles to US 42. Go Left on US 42. Follow US 42 approx .5 - 1 mile to the track on the left.
- ALTERNATE ROUTE: Take exit 72(Verona/KY 14). Go Left on KY 14. Follow KY 14 for approx 2.5 miles to US 42. Go Right on US 42 approx 2.5 miles to the track on the Right.(Note: KY 14 is a tight, winding road with a very steep slope. It is not recommended for motorhomes or those pulling trailers.)
